Ecodesign Workshop for Footwear Design Students

On October 15, 2025, a specialized workshop focused on ecodesign was held within the Footwear Design programme at The Secondary School of Applied Arts in Uherské Hradiště. The session was delivered by Michal Špaček, an experienced footwear expert with many years of professional practice in the industry.

The workshop explored both innovative and traditional footwear materials, with a strong emphasis on sustainability principles and responsible design. Students were introduced to key topics such as material selection, lifecycle thinking, waste management strategies, and environmentally conscious approaches to footwear development. The event aimed to broaden students’ understanding of how ecological responsibility can be effectively integrated into contemporary footwear design while maintaining functionality, aesthetics, and market relevance.

The event served as an introductory insight into new knowledge and perspectives that will be gradually incorporated into the programme’s study materials and curriculum. The workshop also reflects the school’s ongoing international cooperation activities, which aim to transfer expertise, share best practices across partner institutions, and align vocational education with current European standards in sustainable footwear design. Through these initiatives, the programme strengthens its international outlook while enhancing the quality and relevance of its training.
